Revolutionizing TV Stands: Nakamura Co.'s Wall V4

Space-Saving Design Meets Functionality in this Award-Winning TV Stand

Introducing Wall V4, a unique TV stand designed by Nakamura Co., that redefines the conventional TV stand concept with its innovative, space-saving design and functionality. This design, which has been awarded the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2023, is a testament to Nakamura Co.'s commitment to innovation and design excellence.

The inspiration for Wall V4 came from the need to reduce wasted space in modern homes. As TVs get larger, so do their stands, often taking up valuable space. Wall-mounted TVs, while space-saving, require installation work and adjusting their height can be a cumbersome process. Wall V4 was designed to address these challenges, providing a solution that allows almost any TV to be mounted neatly on the wall, without the need for complex installation or adjustments.

What sets Wall V4 apart from other TV stands is its unique design and functionality. It can safely accommodate large TVs (up to 90 inches) from various manufacturers at the user's preferred height. The assembly work is simple and does not require any special modifications to the room. Moreover, all wirings and screws are hidden, creating a harmonious and unified look with the interior of the user's living environment.

The realization of Wall V4's design was made possible through the use of advanced technology. The structure is based on a 2mm steel plate that was pressed into a 3D shape and supported by a radial frame, achieving a thickness of 2mm between the base and the floor. The supporting pillar and cables are hidden inside a double-layered panel that slides along and extends when changing the height. The entire body is coated with satin powder, and a woodgrain finish is baked onto the surface of the panel, giving it the texture of high-quality furniture.

Wall V4 was designed with user interaction in mind. The height of the supporting column can be adjusted with 8 levels, and the metal bracket matches the shape of the back of the TV, allowing for fine positional adjustment. Optional shelves can also be added to expand the TV stand to suit the needs of all users.

The design process for Wall V4 began in October 2020 and was completed in November 2021. The product was launched in January 2022. The design team, led by Akira Nakamura, Hiroshi Tozawa, and Toshiaki Komori, with Naohisa Inoue as the Supply Chain Manager, faced several challenges during the design process. One of the main challenges was securing strength in a very thin base structure. This was achieved by including a set of enforcing elements radially arranged to complement the strength of the 2mm plate. This structure provides visual neatness and effective spatial utilization, and its effectiveness was proven through repeated vibration tests in a lab that can simulate the strongest earthquakes in Japan.

Wall V4 is not just a TV stand, but a testament to Nakamura Co.'s commitment to design innovation and excellence. It is a perfect blend of form and function, offering a space-saving solution that does not compromise on style or functionality. With its unique design and features, Wall V4 is set to redefine the way we think about TV stands.
